The curved wooden sneath (also called snath, snead, scythe handle, or scythe tree) is available in five sizes. It is made of high-quality ash wood and ergonomically shaped. Even after extended mowing, the wooden sneath sits comfortably in the hand. The matching wooden sneath is chosen according to body height. The handles of the scythe sneath can be adjusted to individual needs via the pre-drilled holes. Every scythe from our assortment fits this wooden sneath, with the exception of the 130 cm competition scythe.
Included in the scope of delivery are a scythe ring, wrench, wooden wedge, as well as a detailed assembly and adjustment manual.
ATTENTION: The latest model is designed with an advanced scythe ring without a plastic damper. Further information on this can be found in the supplementary sheet included in the assembly and adjustment manual.

A whetstone holder should always be kept close at hand when scythe mowing. It is simply worn on the belt or waistband and filled with a little water. This whetstone holder is made of plastic and comes with a metal belt hook. Thanks to its yellow color, it is easy to find at any time.
Coarse abrasive rubber 20 x 50 x 80 mm Ideal tool for removing varnish from the cutting edge before first use. The rubber-bonded abrasive grains also clean the cutting edge perfectly before subsequent peening. Due to the matte metal surface left after sanding, hammer strikes during peening are clearly visible.
Important: Only select this service for scythes with a length of 35cm to 75cm! Essentially, all scythes we sell are pre-peened by machine multiple times and coated with anti-rust lacquer. With this optional service, the scythe becomes even sharper and is particularly well-suited for young and green grass. We perform the following work steps: The anti-rust lacquer is removed from the cutting edge area by grinding. The cutting edge is professionally and uniformly thin-peened by hand. Even if new scythe blades are labeled "ready to mow" (whether ours or from other brands), they only truly become ready after the anti-rust lacquer has been removed.
Whetstone from the Austrian Gosau Valley. This sedimentary rock is soft and features a medium-fine grit. When sharpening, this combination of material properties quickly produces a sharp, long-lasting edge. The perfect whetstone for our peened scythes. The material removal rate is slightly higher compared to the Rozsutec whetstone. Optimal sharpening results are achieved only when the stone is wet and regularly dipped in water. With a length of 26 cm, the stone is well-suited for larger hands.

According to the specifications and quality criteria of the Austrian Scythe Association (Sensenverein Österreich), our most popular model is exclusively handcrafted by the Schröckenfux company in over 20 production steps. The special curvature of the blade, the 'Knackl' (the unique tang elevation), and its exceptional sharpness define our best-selling classic. The SVÖ scythe is a grass scythe designed for fresh to old and dry grass, as well as green plant stems up to 5 mm in diameter and non-woody vegetation. The cutting edge is peened three times and then sharpened by hand. The scythe blade is polished on both sides. Its particularly light weight, achieved by the 'Spitzhamme' (tapered spine reinforcement), allows for effortless and energy-saving mowing. Shorter scythes are ideal for older, taller, and particularly dry grass. A short scythe blade also facilitates mowing in tight spaces, around trees, or along walls. The 60 cm and 65 cm scythes are suitable for areas up to 80 m². For open-area mowing, scythes from 70 cm to 90 cm are optimal. The 90 cm scythe is designed for large, flat areas with light growth; mastering the correct technique and being in good physical condition are essential for handling this scythe. Before use, the protective varnish must be removed by manual sanding. Detailed instructions on how to correctly adjust the scythe can be found in the enclosed adjustment and assembly guide.
